Welcome to the Topic of the Week!
Each week, we will post a news feed including many news articles relating to a specific topic, as well as questions to help stimulate thought and discussion on those topics. Keep in mind, these are meant to be a starting point. The editors at ProU encourage you to research these topics beyond the news articles we give you here.
If you have any questions about this feature, or would like to have a feed yourself, please e-mail us at news[at]progressiveu.org.

mvenus929's Cultural Topic of the Week:
Questions to Consider:
1) Different cultures have different diseases that are often associated with diets. What do you think is the best cultural diet and why?
2) Antioxidants are said to be very good for you. Is it possible to consume too many antioxidants (or any other nutrient, such as vitamins or minerals)? What are the effects of such? Is it possible to consume these high amounts through a regular diet alone?
3) Should dietary supplements be regulated by the FDA? Why or why not?
4) Can diseases be prevented or caused by diet? What are some examples?
5) Are artificial sweeteners good or bad for you? Why?
6) Is a vegetarian diet better for you? Are there diets that are better for the environment than others? Give some specific examples.
