I am a pianist, and have been for many years. I have been in so many recitals and concerts that I don't want to count them, but even so, I just about always managed to get out of playing by memory. I may have little knowledge of this matter, but I'm tired of hearing this. iPods are everywhere. High school and college students use them frequently before and after classes are over to listen to music that motivates them for the day or at least to lift their spirits. Truth: Sex sells.
Think about it. Popular music is about sex. TV shows and movies always have a steamy sex plot behind it; even if the setting isn't particularly romantic (i.e. crime scenes and hospitals). What is it about music that brings people together and can turn complete strangers into a troupe of singers?

I kid you not. I have seen an entire room of strangers spontaneously break into song and dance.

Our town started a new campaign called the "Lower the Boom" campaign. The purpose is to minimize the amount of cars driving around with music so loud that you vibrate 3 miles away.
