You must be wondering why I have begun this experiment.
Well, my main reason is that I want to understand how peer pressure affects High School students.
After thinking about how cliques and stereotypes occur in high school (no matter how much one would like to deny that they exist), I realized that there is a similarity between the situations I am observing and situations that occurred in history.
The Nazis utilized propaganda to spread anti-Semitism through Europe during the holocaust. They way they did this was to make obvious the characteristics that made Jews “different”. For example, they created cartoons that emphasized “the Jew’s” large nose and sinister-looking eyes. In this way, they made the group of people look like monsters and dehumanized Jews. This trick was used over and over again during the Holocaust to make the general population ignore the fact (or even support) the fact that an entire group of people was being murdered.
So, you see, stereotypes can really be used to hurt others. They can be used to spread hate and separate people.
In our modern society, I believe that we should work to get rid of these stereotypes so that history will not repeat itself. More than that, I believe that it is necessary to destroy this nasty habit of ours so that peace can be made possible.

While i get what your saying, there was a bit more to the nazis and their persecution of the jews then just a clique mentality. However I do agree that cliques can be unhealthy and such, but as for getting rid of them, I don't see how its possible. people will always move to groups that they feel comfortable to be in, and I dont see that changing anytime soon.
