Is it just me, or is prom suffocating everybody??? This time of year seems to be the time when all the seniors, and sometimes juniors, are driving themselves and everybody else crazy! Is prom really that big of a deal.
I am going to prom, but I honestly wish that I stuck with my original decision not to. It is almost the end of my senior school year (a year that has gone by more on the peaceful side than not) and all this drama is FLARING up. Why? Because prom is taking over everybody's minds.
I'm not anti-prom...I'm really not. And I'm not typng this because somebody is forcing me to go and I think I'm going to have a horriible time. Believe me, I'm not. I have a date. I have a very pretty dress. I have a limo. And I have some great friends. I AM going to have fun.
So, if I know I'm going to have fun, why do I wish I wasn't going? The pre-prom craze. Need I say more? All the babies that want to have everything their way (and I'm not even talking about the females). All the insanity of "well this is my friend and I am not parting from his/her side for the whole one hour that we have to sit down and eat dinner."
Prom is a big deal, yes. But our society and America's culture have put so much emphasis on it that people think of little else. Is it too much, or am I just over-reacting? Any thoughts???
