So now we have to pay $9 billion? I think not. It’s ridiculous, totally ridiculous. Why do we, the hardworking American citizens who can’t get by AS IT IS have to go out and give another $3K per person to the government to bail a bunch of rich executives out for making dumb mistakes? Hey, if I make a mistake at work or in my school or in any other job I’m put in charge of, I don’t see people giving me money when I mess up. Instead, they yell at me and I suffer consequences. Yet, here are these big people who’ve been gorging in money for years, yet, WE have to bail them out. Sorry, but I’m not seeing the American justice in this. My family’s already choking over debt…we definitely don’t need to send out another $20K (that we DON’T have) to go bail these people out. Let them fend for themselves.
Also, I don’t see how temporarily fixing this will help our economy. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 occurred because there was a lot of money going into the economy…false money…and whereas it caused a big boom in business for a while (just think of the “Roaring 20s”), it finally fell. So that’s what’s happening now. Well, in the 30s, instead of telling people to just save their money and hold out while they suffered a temporary repression, the government told the people to buy, buy, buy! Buying would help the economy to stabilize, they said. Nope…it just caused the economy to get even worse, so people went more and more into a depression. Hopefully things will work themselves out, but it’s not looking that great…especially since history repeats itself…

Also in 1929 people were flipping out...as they are now and selling and that also lead to the economy tanking. I understand your frustration about the situation, I am a nervous wreck (not just because of this I am having other issues as well) and I would like to not have more stress, but I guess we should be used to being screwed over by now.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I am voting for Lewis Black.

I think it's funny that one of the main families that caused the first depression still holds office in the senate. It's great stuff, full circle.
