I have thought for a long time that the local co-operatives are just for hippies. They are locally grown products, mostly organic. So why would i ever go to one? Well it's supporting YOUR economy, YOUR stores, and YOUR town. If you need another advantage to getting your food locally, ITS HEALTHY. Fruits and vegetables usually are not drowned in grease, unless you are talking about a McDonalds french fri.
How many stores need to go out of business in these small towns until people get the picture? So it's going to be cheaper to go buy your apples at Wal*Mart, but look at what you are supporting! Look at what you are supporting by going to McDonalds. These are big corporate companies, that just run all the other businesses out of business.
What do you think? Would you shop at a co-op or buy locally grown produce to support your town?
