This Bailout PLan

So we have this bailout idea, of 700 BILLION dollars. What? Hello, where is that money coming from? I think this is terrible. That money is going to come from MY parent's tax dollars, and then mine, and my kids, and their kids, and so on and so on. This is a vicious cycle. But nobody seems to care that we're in trillions of dollars of debt. Some people care about the bailout, but no one under 19 really seems as freaked out as I am.
This girl, Sydney in my history class is all for it. I think she's an idiot. This bail out is just a bandaid to put over the equivilant of a machine gun wound. Seriously. This isn't going to help us in the long run, it's going to prolong an oncoming Depression. We are falling faster and faster, and no one cares. God. What can I do? I feel so powerless. I can't change anything right now. I need to get Invisible Children started as soon as I can. I hope the teachers email Monica back soon...
So Obama and McCain are basically saying the same thing in the campaign race right now. I'm actually inclined to believe more in Obama. I mean, what has McCain promised? Another Bush? And with Sarah Palin running as the VP, I am just not feeling any love for McCain.
Monica is all anti-Obama, and I don't want to tell her that I'm getting a bit anti-McCain myself. I hate how your friends can influence you so much without knowing it. I don't like how much I care about her opinions when I make my own. I mean, it's important to care about how it will affect other people. especially your BEST FRIEND, but I don't want to be bullied don't by what I think of her reaction. I hate that.

One comment you can make to your friends is in regards to the potential tax plans of both candidates. McCain calls for tax cuts for everyone - a continuation and expansion of George W's tax program. But for all his talk on cutting "pork barrel spending" he has no ideas for creating revenue.

Senator Obama's plan calls for tax cuts for 95% of American taxpayers. The 147,000 families in the top .01% of the American population who earn over $2,870,000/year (that's almost $3 MILLION dollars per year) will have the largest tax increase ($700,000 dollars per year) under Obama's plan - but if you notice, even with the tax increase, they will still be making over $2 million dollars per year. The revenue from this tax plan? $300 billion dollars.

As far as I'm concerned, you can talk about cutting spending as much as you want, but we're still only going to be digging ourselves into a hole if we can't find a way to create revenue.
