Another season of great television is upon us! I don’t watch much TV anymore, as I only have the capability to watch DVD’s in my apartment. But Grey’s is definitely a guilty pleasure!!! I think besides the great writing, colorful characters, and easily interesting setting, there are two reasons why a viewer would envelope themselves in a show like this. They want to escape or they can relate. Or both.
I was so drawn to it because I could see myself in so many of these characters, in their stories—in their strengths in their weaknesses, in the prospect of hope for a better future—who wouldn’t want a McDreamy in their life?
And why isn’t it possible? Can I tell you how many skeptics I meet? Good grief! If I had a dime for every one I’ve met I’d be a millionaire! Even through all the heartbreaks and despair I’ve been through, I still believe dreams can come true. I believe in true love, and happily ever afters. Seeing the sunrise every morning reminds me I’m already in the thick of it.
Watching Grey’s Anatomy and seeing the stories that are sometimes embellished, but so many times could be true, and hark back to our humanity. A lot of people tell me my romantic ideas are unrealistic, but you know what? Call me naïve, but I don’t care and I don’t think so. I’ve been treated badly and I won’t let that happen again. However, it doesn’t mean something good isn’t possible. Frankly, I have compassion on those that don’t think so. I think that’s the other half of people that watch Grey’s. They like it, but don’t believe its messages.
That’s okay. I’m sure there’s people that produce it that are just after ratings :p Now there’s the skeptic in me too ;p hehe!
