Is it just me, or is the majority of the human race going through cognitive de-evolution at an epidemic level? It's incredibly frustrating lately, especially to those humans that are intellecually aware and mentally awake regarding the betterment of humankind and the environmental, social, and geopolitical problems that afflict the world right now (to say nothing about the personal and ethical problems that exist). There's also this annoying sense of entitlement that a lot of people seem to have, a social expectation that assumes "I deserve this only because I'm asking for it." You all know what I'm talking about: it's "the customer's always right" practice, the "you won't get my business anymore" comment, the "how dare you, I'm going to call corporate" rant.
What happened to human empathy and sympathetic kindness? What happened to honestly understanding other peoples' problems? What happened to truly seeing things from another person's perspective? Why can't we forget about our own expectations and desires and understand things from our enemies' point of view, regardless of how right or wrong they may be? Perhaps if we, as intelligent and cognitive-abled beings, forgot about our own materialistic expectations, if we forgot about how things "should be", if we stopped expecting the world to opperate the way WE think it should opperate, and started truly seeing things from other people's perspectives, then perhaps life would be more gentle. Not conflict or war-free, but more peaceful.
But that doesn't seem to be the case at all. There is this pervading sense of "cluelessness". This disease of complacency and comfort within a world of excessive wealth and technology. People are so wrapped up in their cars, houses, jobs, game systems, money, and all the benefits of a technocratic and materialistic society, that anything else that doesn't fit into their world of ease is automatically bad and horrible.
If we just stepped out of our little box of money and comfort, maybe we'd see the rest of the world as it spins around us; then, maybe, we wouldn't be de-evolving intellectually because of the comfort of easy living.
