Now, I am pretty sure that most of the people reading this clicked on the link because sex was in the title. I'm not implying that the readers of this article are particularly perverted, but because there is just something so charismatic about this three-lettered word. Something about it that screams, "I'm different, make me an issue! I want to be noticed!"
Let me be a bit clearer:
Sex is often seen(please correct me if i'm wrong) as the dirty little secret of society. We try so hard to show that sex, which is, in case you don't know, a necessary aspect of life, is wrong. We teach in schools that abstinence, the total avoidance of it, is the best option, and we turn a boob on live tv (super bowl anyone?) in to a national scandal.
For the record, i am not an expert on sex, and i don't proclaim to be. I simply can not see how sex can be compared to alcohol and drugs as an evil temptation. Yes, i agree that there are forms of sex and probably sex practices that are wrong, i.e. rape. But i feel as if much of society tries to hide up the fact that as humans, we are sexual.
Sculptures of nude figures were once seen by the public as the representation of human perfection, where now even the slightest glimpse of a naked body shows a sense of disregard for one's self.
I feel that as a society we try to hide up things unnecessarily.
By the way, please go easy on the comments, this was a spur of the moment post.
