Things You Learn In College

In the first couple days of attending a college or university you can learn a lot about college life. For example: 1. Microwaves aren't an amenity. They're a lifeline. Sometimes, it's okay to just stay in the dorm for certain meals and all-too-common snacktimes. 2. It IS possible to get your school's name on anything; clothes, notebooks, coffee mugs, waffles....Colleges appear to be the most narcissistic self-advertisers. 3. Just because it's college doesn't mean you've escaped all the morons in high school. They migrate in the fall in small packs (commonly refered to as "cliques" or "homies".). The Gansta is a creature with a growing habitat and may reside in your own town. Beware of them, for they have poor grammar. 4. You can and will have to buy books that are $90. And then, when you sell them back, they mysteriously become obsolete and your return bonus is only $7. 5. Hindsight and it's advantages/disadvantages seems more common in college when you've forgotten something. ...wait, what did I forget? 6.Just because you're reading the text doesn't mean you have any idea what you've read. Seriously, this obliviousness can last for pages, and that can be detrimental to a limited study time. 7. Just because you CAN have ice cream doesn' tmean you should. C'mon, don't waste the vanilla. 8. Procrastination is a disease that spreads faster and is more common than the flu. Try not to catch it, as it's very difficult to cure yourself of. 9. Suddenly, that awkward feeling of being the new kid returns ...only now instead of learning the names of 30 homeroom students, you'll see thousands of new faces. 10. Challenges include: Harder classes, new faces, living in a strange structure called a dormitory, drivers that are as bad or worse than their high school equivalents, people who drink too much, and crazy squirrels that will dart across your path and give you dirty looks. I hope you find this quick guide to college life to be insightful, truthful, and....aw heck, I'll procrastinate and finish the rest of this sentence later!
