Pure Love - Does it exist anymore?

Even in our world that seems so full of hate, violence, mistrust, shame, and abuse, I would wholeheartedly argue that true love still exists and is all around us. I'm not just talking about that future Prince Charming, I'm talking about the gentleman who goes out of his way to open a door for me, a classmate who doesn't normally talk to me, but steps out of her comfort zone by letting me know that she is there if I need someone to talk to when she sees me upset. I am talking about the little things people do that stand out in your mind as something great - something out of the ordinary. In each of these brief instances, we see a glimpse of the profound mystery of human love - if we let ourselves. Sometimes we can be so caught up in ourselves that we don't even want to see the love that is around us. We shut ourselves up in an attempt to protect ourselves from something, yet love still surrounds us nonetheless. Why do we put up shields and barriers to protect ourselves? - From what are we protecting ourselves even? Often from the fear of ourselves. Which is ironic since we can never escape ourselves. For now I would like to leave you with this piece of a quote from Marianne Williamson, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." ...To be continued...
