There are times when I realize that I forgot to do something, or simply procrastinated, and never acknowledged the sense of failure that comes with it. Most recently, I purchased a planner, a desktop calendar, and began using the calendar (with a to-do list) on my phone. These devices, whether its just pencil and paper, an automated reminder my phone gives, or a neon colored sticky not, help me set and achieve my goals.
The best way, in my opinion, is to remind myself of what I need/want to get done. In the morning, I look over my to-do list (which I write the night before) and do as much as I can before I leave for school. After I'm done with classes, I review it and cross off what was completed. Before bed, I take what wasn't accomplished today, and write it on tomorrow, making the next day my deadline. By prioritizing, I get everything done when it should be done, and most of the time, the way it should be done!
Goal setting is one of those things that everyone handles differently. Some people write notes on their hands, which wash off and are never there when you need them, but for me, reminding myself in many different ways through out the day help me most. I've achieved most of my yearly goals, which include (but are not limited to) taking my meds. everyday, raising awareness and money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and getting the most out of my day.
