Being on spring break this year has actually been one of the best times I have ever had on spring break. My reasoning for staying home while the rest of my family went else where was simple: they were planning on going to Williamsburg, which doesn't sound all that exciting to me. Also part of it was because they had planned to spend one day at the beach so that my younger brothers could go surfing. One day, yeah right, the day after they got there they ended up moving hotels so they could stay in Virginia Beach so my brothers could surf everyday if they wanted to.
I'm pretty sure that's exactly what I said would happen.
Either way, I have been spending the best week of my life at home by myself. I go where I want when I want, I eat what I want, when I want it and surprisingly I have been eatting better than when my family was actually around.
The whole reason that I really stayed home though wasn't for the freedom or the food; it was for the reading time.
The oppurtunity to broden my horizons with books that normally wouldn't be aloud in my household. ( Not that my parents are strict they just are very opionated. And most of the time they have the opposite opinion of me. )
So, when going back to school next week I expect to be asked what I did over spring break. And my answer will be that I read to learn. Okay so maybe I will have thought of something more interesting to say by then.
My point is that more people should take the time to read about things that they aren't familiar with. Things that aren't being spoon feed to you in school. Broden your horizons and read things you wouldn't normally read. Read about people and cultures or lifestyles. Whatever. Just read.
