Underpaid, Underappreciated, Yet Striving for a Better Future

“Children are our future,” we’ve heard again and again. However, how are we treating those who work closely with, and in some cases, practically raise “our future?” Childcare workers are amongst the least paid in America, and have one of the most important jobs. Teachers, sadly, are not far behind.

I can easily say that being a daycare provider or teacher can be some of the most rewarding positions, but can leave one with little more than a great feeling of making a difference in the lives of others. Of course, nothing can compare to the emotional rewards of being a teacher. However, it would certainly be refreshing for our educators to receive the monetary rewards they deserve.

It makes me sick to see how much we’re paying pro sports players and film stars while teachers get so little. Of course the sports players and actors, etc, are very talented. However, I find it really warped that we pump so many funds into entertainment and push so little towards the people shaping the future of our country.

If we want the best future possible for our nation, we should be hiring nothing but the very best teachers to work with the kids. Is it possible we’re missing out on some of the best because they’re going for higher-paid careers? And, even if we’re still getting some of the best, shouldn’t we pay them as such?

Who do you want caring for or teaching your kids? Let me guess… whoever’s the best, right? Why? Because the kids are important and should be treated well, given a great education, etc? Of course! Then let’s pay people fairly to do the most outstanding job possible! It’s a simple concept.

Teachers have a huge level of importance and influence in America and all over the world. It’s time that they get the salary and recognition they deserve.
