My sister works her ass off everyday. She's 21 and is raising her boyfriend's daughter. She works as a leasing agent at an apartment complex and one of her used-to-be really good friends is her boss. Big mistake I know, but they usually get along. Unless...well here's the latest...
On Saturday night at like 11 her boss calls and says she can't breathe and needs to go to the hospital. Keep in mind that she has 2 kids and a boyfriend at home that could have taken her ...but they don't care about her at all. So, my sister gets out of bed and stays at the hospital with her until 1 in the morning.
Well they admitted her to the hospital which creates a serious issue b/c they are the only ones that work at this office and Monday was supposed to be my sister's day off. She was supposed to be planning Courtney's party (her b/f's daughter). So her boss told her she could leave early. That was all fine and dandy until her boss called asking her to get her boyfriend to bring her cellphone charger to her. He said no. After that she told my sister to get everyone else out of the office and started yelling at her...over the phone...from the hospital.
She then calls the regional manager and told her all of this. Then she calls my sister back and says "You aren't doing any work anyways so just leave." So she did.
But she won't quit and this is what I don't understand. Why won't you get a new job if you're constantly being treated like shit? In fact, my sister's boyfriend even told her that she didn't have to work at all.
Why do people put themselves through this stuff every day only to put a few measly dollars in their pockets? I don't understand how someone can allow themselves to be constantly torn down and degraded and be okay with that. It's just not right and it really bothers me that people don't stand up for themselves about it.
boss from hell
