I just watched a pbs special Frontline on troops in Iraq. They seem very confused as to why they are there and want to come home.
The web address is http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/badvoodoo/
you can watch the whole special online. It was very good and talks about military bloggers. I thought that it might be relevant, since this site is all about blogging.
What do you guys think, should we get out of Iraq or hang around?
There is no good solution but all of the politcians keep proposing their plans. There is no such thing as an exit strategy there. I feel really bad for the troops and their families. A lot of them come back with serious mental problems.
The most intense part of the show was when their commander told them to get their turn-a-kits ready. They were expecting to get hurt but they still went. And the thing is, they aren't even moving military things. They are moving things that are for private contrator. Shouldn't the contractors be moving their own stuff so we are putting our troops at risk.
That night an IED did go off but noone was hurt. And the troops thought that the Iraqi army was the ones to put it there. The commander had class though, when they went through the check point, he saluted the Iraqis
