I wonder how many other people on this site are trying to get scholarships. That is the main reason why I'm here. I have a really hard time finding scholarships because I am an average student, a junior, and not a minority. Most of the scholarships I find are for need based merit. My parents make enough money so they can pay for college, it is just a hardship. I haven't had to overcome any adversity in my life either. So all the topics about that are rules out too. I wish there were scholarships for average people. Write an essay, get the scholarship. But to qualify you would have to make over the financial aid marker, and be from a background that hasn't had to overcome any adversity.
You may think, why do you need a scholarship if your parents can afford to pay for school? I feel like I am taking advantage of them. Both of them had to work through college and had debt when they got out. They want me to take advantage of the fun that happens within college. So instead of work, I just take really hard class loads and volunteer. So right now I am not bringing any new money. I am just living off what I had from the summer.
My goal is to win the blogging scholarship but I am coming late to the game. I don't see how this is going to work, because each time I post to someone else, they get points too. It reminds me of my classes. Everything is graded on a curve so you want your fellow classmate to do really bad. For you to do well they have to fail, isn't that the wrong thing to be teaching us right before we go into the real world. Teamwork=fail. I think my school needs to reevaluate their grading process.
