As I add more cheese to the “batter” for my twice baked potatoes, my mind forms its very own rant. So I quickly whip the mixture, spoon it into potato carcasses, and stick it back in the oven. I now have 45 minutes to write...

If your post contains the phrases:

  • “Sorry, I wanted to rant.”
  • “I know this isn’t really what the site is for, but...”
  • “LOL! I just want to rant, not really progressive. Hahahahaha.”

Please, reread your blog. Chances are, it belongs on Livejournal or Myspace.

I like being an attention whore as much as the next person, but, somehow, I’ve managed to do that while following the rules of this site.

Oh, by the way, as some of you seem to forget as you argue that you can post whatever you want, this site has rules! For a reason, even! Please, follow them... unless it’s, perhaps, your secret dream to look like an idiot? Even so, please post about progressive things. You have your entire life to fulfill your dreams.

It’s time to end this so I can get my steaks on the grill while the potatoes are finishing. I don’t think this qualifies as a blog, so I’ll confine it to the forums. Maybe it won’t get noticed as much, but at least I got my rant out without besmirching the recent blog posts list.

you mean like Chuck Norris endorsing exercise equipment? or my failed cocaine energy drink blog? :-P even quasi-progressive is more progressive than not at all.

    I'm speaking more of:

person 1: my boyfriend broke up with me. I built a boat from the pieces of my broken heart to sail down a river composed of my collective emo tears. I really just wanted to get this out.
    person 2: This isn't progressive.
person 1: so what? it's my blog.

I've got to find the one about the building a boat out of the broken heart to sail down the sea of emo tears....sounds interesting!

Whatever floats your broken heart boat. I think emo tears would sink mine. :(

I enjoy ranting... especially when I can find something that no one else has ranted or blogged about!

I would like to rant on the inability to rant about rants that you rant on while ranting about why others rant.

    Holy crap, I've gone cross-eyed.

Ranting can be progressive. Ranting for the sake of ranting, however, isn't always progressive material. Good points there sawaboof!

Some rants and break-ups can be considered progressive. It's all in the wording. To start a blog on a site called ProgressiveU saying "this isn't progressive" though is really just stupid. Anyone beginning a PROGRESSIVE blog with a statement like that should have their entry deleted and 100 points deducted for sheer stupidity.

If the topic doesn't seem progressive to readers, maybe authors can try and add an explanation on why they feel their topic IS progressive. Justification can be helpful for readers and help to point out their perspective.

I had to crack a smile at the "100 points deducted for sheer stupidity" portion. That would be awesome. A great way to weed out those bloggers who aren't trying hard enough on the site.

What would happen when one has negative points? Would they have to pay the site money at that point? Not a bad idea.

One would only have negative points if they posted something during one of the past contests that, for some reason or another, was removed from the site.
