Kansas: To coal or not to coal?

Tagged:  •    •

AsThe Inconvenient Truth becomes more clear the US must quickly grasp the appropriate balance between planet friendly practices and economic costs. Kansas recent decision to outright reject the building of 3 new coal plants is an example of leaning too far in one direction; these coal plants would have been a source of inexpensive energy while also providing a source of jobs for those working at the plants or mining the coal and thus adding stability to our economy, though coal has become cleaner through technological advances it still has that inconvenient truth to deal with- it is a source of Greenhouse gases. Instead of outright rejecting these plants, Kansas should have instead required them to devise a technological solution to mitigate the GhG they would have produced- this would have been an overall better balance between societal benefits and costs than just outright rejecting them. Certainly, the state of Kansas could have done better by possibly contributing to the development of the technology to be used rather than just saying no. That's all I have to say- why does one have to have 200 words, isn't brevity a better trait than verboseness? ;-) Still not there yet So, so so
