I don't dream very often and not nearly as often as I used to. Besides this fact, I've always wondered if dreams are relevant to situations in life or just in our subconscious. This isn't a new question, nor do I have any new theories or ideas to this, but I just want to state what I think on the subject and hear what others's ideas on the topic are.
I think that relvance varies from dream to dream. I've had my share of off-the-wall dreams that, in my mind, can in no way relate to anything I've seen or thought about in the past few days or weeks. I do think that there are dreams that relate to what one sees throughout the day or thinks about during the day. For instance, I've had dreams about going to school and entering my English class without the paper due that day and my teacher yelled at me quite harshly for not turning it in on time. When I woke up, I made sure that I had my paper done and ready to go to school. Was this my body's way of subconsciously reminding me to bring my paper or just some random dream that coincidentally reminded me?
I've heard certain "professionals" on sleep that would say that each and every dream has a meaning and can help one in their life. I suppoose that this is possible, but how can a dream about my being chased around my house by a dinosaur be applied to my life?
