Extreme Texting

A new law came out about not being able to use your cell phones and driving; this is especially pointed towards texting and driving. I think that it should be a personal option and this law should be abolished. There are a few reasons:
1. We already have so many distractions in the car. There are screaming children in the back seat, talking to people in the car, we change the radio station constantly, and adjusting the heat. With all these distractions, does using your cell phone really make a difference? I think not.
2. If you can't text and drive don't. People should know their limits. I for one know where all the letters are on the phone and don't even have to look when I'm texting. If one has to look down the whole time and search for each letter, I would suggest listening to the law.
3. Things come up. Sometimes there's traffic and you need to call and let someone know you'll be late. Sometimes you know you're going to be late for your curfew. These are definately times that you should be able to use your cell phone.
4. Everyone does it anyway. It might not seem like an excuse, but it is. I was driving home today and can't tell you the number of people that I saw talking to themselves (including me). No one listens to this law, since it is rediculous. It's either those people were talking on their phones or singing along to the radio...I think it was their phones.
