The Ocean
The ocean flows blue like the sky.
It interrupts my tears.
The crashing of the waves electrify
My soul, giving it life
The day is better... I feel I can try
The stars shine bright. Reflected
In the midnight blue of the sea
They calm my heart.
The beat slows down. I feel a chill
I live without being rejected
The sheer power of the ocean tells me:
"There is good. There is God."
But the cold breeze, chills me to the bone,
Reminds me of the bad.
All the unhealed scars you can't see
I'm scared as I stand here
Alone in the dark
Only the cold rush of the waves
To hold me, console me, bring me warmth
The cold ocean eats my tear
But this is home
The water is my comfort, my
Life flows with the blue
It will always make me smile
I want to disappear with the foam
**This is a poem I wrote last year. I don't usually do free verse poetry, but I really like this one. I've always loved the ocean. It's always been so powerful, majestic, and beautiful, yet still so threatening and daunting. Just thinking about the ocean calms me down and makes me excited and inspired. I always feel like everything is better at the beach. I'm from SoCal so the beach is one of the places with refreshingly clean air, at least for the most part! And the sunset is the most incredible thing.
