What is your hurry?

I live in my car - not technically, but figuratively speaking. I drive constantly from home to school, which is an hour away, and some days to my wonderful part-time retail management job, which is yet another hour away. Since I am on the road consistently 7 days a week, I witness and experience stupid driver behavior.

I admit, I have a little bit of a lead foot. I like to go fast. I don't drive dangerously fast, just a little above the speed limit. My beef is that other drivers, be it on the highway or a four-lane road, come up like demons behind me. All I can see is a big vehicle coming up close and right away I fear that I might get rear-ended. They come up and speed right past me. By the way, a lot of times I am already going about 75 miles per hour - I'm assuming they are doing about 90. Do they really have to show off?? I can see if I am going BELOW the speed limit, as I have done that to the little blue-haired people that can barely see above the wheel.

The worst is during inclement weather - mainly snow. About a month ago, the rural road I was attempting to drive on had around 3 inches of unplowed snow. I could only do 15 miles per hour without my car veering into the ditch. So guess what? I have a very impatient driver tailgating me as if the weather was perfectly okay. Um, yeah, in case you were wondering, driver, it's a little difficult to operate this vehicle on this surface!! He/she drove so close to the back of my car I could barely see the headlights.

Everyone - please slow down! Not only is it panic-inducing to other drivers, but it is discourteous and dangerous. Which is worse - arriving at your destination a little bit later than you anticipated or dealing with the aftermath of an accident, such as injuries, car insurance rates going up, and dealing with filing a police report? I prefer arriving late!

Everyone's driving skills and car's ability to handle different conditions are different. Some cars handle better in bad weather than others. Anytime someone goes around me like that, I think that maybe they are on the way to see a loved one in the hospital, are about to be late for work, or are going to a birth. There must be an important reason, with the exception of the few showoffs.
