Silent Information?

So, I was taking the FCAT SSS Mathematics today. Afterwards, the teacher and the whole class was having a talk and honestly, I can't blame older people.

There is so much information people need to know before they even enter High School, in my opinion. I try to be informed. I don't see out information unless I'm seriously interested, or it comes to me; but that isn't seeking, is it?
Well, Anyhoo, my point it, as a sophomore, I think I have my head on my shoulders pretty well. Until me and this teacher had a talk.
It made me shake my head.
I know I'm smart. But lately, my grades haven't been the best. In my case, it's 'cause I don't have enough to work. I strive under pressure. Yet, I have no pressure to strive under. So I relax and chill. Not the smartest idea. There is so much information about colleges people don't realize at my age.
What probably bothers me the most is when I wonder, what if I had heard about this later? Do you know how much that would've effected me? I know there is a lot going on in just one school, but for the STUDENTS SAKE, There should be monthly meetings or something to inform students about Colleges and exactly what you should do and have to do to actually even get accepted to these places.
I was planning to go to UF, now with my 2.67 GPA, as a sophomore knowing they will primarily look at that, before I even finish my Junior year, intimidates me. Now, I feel like I have to change my whole plan completely and try a different school.

I just believe things should be done to inform students that life isn't going to wait. I realize why older people complain and tell you to pay attention.
Maybe if they would've said this from the start, things might've been different.
