Brought up in a homosexual happy world.
Homosexuality has always been an issue from the beginning of time.
The Bible mentions Sodom and Gomora as places filled with
homosexuality. Everyone in these cities were homosexual with the
exception of Abraham. Apparently God didn't like it, and turned the
city to salt.
Lovely story huh? Well especially more now than ever, the issue of
homosexuality has been brought up again. For the most part, society
has excepted homosexuality as "okay". I'm sure that everyone that
comments on this blog will say it is. All my life I grew up with the
idea that homosexuality is wrong, and that it's a sin to be gay or
lesbian. My church taught me that, my parents taught me that, and my
Bible taught me that. That was one perspective. Since then, I have
been both exposed to people who strongly believe that homosexuality
is alright, exceptable, and normal. I find myself thinking the same
way...
But not quite. I still feel it's wrong. What my belief is, is this:
According to the Bible, which many don't believe in anymore,
homosexuality is wrong. Because if it wasn't, God wouldn't have had
to purge Sodom and Gomora. It should be clear to Bible readers that
God made man and women to be together. And that there should only be
sexual unity between these two genders. He commanded them to
multiply. God loves everybody, but hates the sin. And it seems to me
that God hates homosexuality.
That was coming from a Christian point of view. Since I have both
perspectives, I wish to address the other point of view. I feel that
our current age of society is sexually absorbed. Sex is not a bad
thing, but I suppose it can be. It's a very personal thing if you ask
me. It deals with a lot of emotions, and how close in a relationship
people are...Everyone likes sexual pleasure, and the more diverse the
sex is, the better. So people try out new things, including
homosexual activities. That's where I believe some people are coming
from.
Another theory that I have about homosexuality is that the more
people are told they're gay, the more they start to wonder and act
like they really are. It may be a fictitious thought, but it eventual
creates a lifestyle.
I understand however that many people feel emotional love from the
same sex. It's simply falling in love and caring for another person,
despite their gender. This part I have yet to understand. I try to
look at things objectively, so please don't criticize me too much.
Suprisingly many Christians and religious people lead a homosexual
life. Many religious families discourage early age
girlfriend/boyfriend relationships...so what does the child do? Since
they can't have a bf/gf, and eventually learn to live that kind of
lifestyle, the only people that can hang out and chill out their
house are friends of the same sex. Friends become close, and they
start to care about each other as any friend should. That's all fine.
This is where things get "homosexual". Teens desire sexual pleasure.
And where are they gunna get it from if they've grown up thinking
that the opposite sex is not meant for that pleasure? They've got to
find it somewhere, and eventually turn to their closest friends for
this experience.
I can't say that I fully understand homosexuals. I am not trying
to offend any of you, but merely trying to look at things in an
objective
light. Personally, i think homosexuality is a feeling that was not
meant to be, but now is often felt, however not necessarily right.
From a Christian perspective it is hard to say this. But from an
atheistic perspective, I would say that homosexual relations may be
okay, however when it comes to having a family, I would still
disagree with homosexuality. Since two men or two women cannot
scientifically or physically have an offspring, I don't think that
they have the right to raise one. There is still a difference in
genders despite orientation, and I believe that it is necessary for
a child to be raised by both a woman and a man.
Thoughts?
