I really need to stop reading the news. I was perusing an article on cnn.com about the amount of prescription medication in our drinking water and became ill. No, seriously my stomach started hurting. It talked about how when people take medicine and go to the restroom some of the medicine is passed through the system and into the water where it is later recycled at treatment plants to be used as drinking water. That article had me thinking....could the increase in early menstruation in young girls be caused by this or even the increase in heart diseases (not the ones you get from eating McDonalds, but the bacterial ones)? Seriously just how much recycled medication does it take to have a serious affect on people.
The federal government does not require testing on drinking water or even established limits for safety for it. So how can we be sure that it does or does not have an affect on our mood swings, the changes our bodies go through, the many unknown or even uncurable cancers plaguing our existence.
Worse yet...could the use of drinking water when one is already taking prescription medication for mood disorders aid in pushing those individuals over the edge. Think about it...what if the guy who shot people at NIU had a bad interaction from drinking water and prescription medication?
No I'm not saying that he or even we can drink one cup and go nuts but long term exposure to it, who's to say. They claim it is minute levels, but minute adds up if it is everyday for the past 25 years. Who's to say that we all won't get a little nuts? There has been an increase in violent behavior from children, teens, and young adults for some time now and we all have many uses for water. We bathe in it, we drink it, we cook ramen noodles in it, we do almost everything in it. Other companies even use it to create the sodas we love, the microwavable foods, etc.
Overall, this just sucks and I'm so staying off cnn for like two days. I'm telling you soon enough they will be telling us the fish have gotten up and are walking around.
