I recently read the article about the discovery of the mass graves. I suggest you give it quick read as well. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080308/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq
After reading it, I felt reassured in my beleif that we need to stay in Iraq and continue to provide a defense system to those unable to yet. I agree it is a relegious civil war that we can not put a bow on and call it won or lost. As Americans we have a duty to protect those who need it and take down terrorists though.
Iraq is an extremley unstable place, our troops, our well-trained soldiers offer some degree of hope and security for the Iraqi people. Leaving would be sensless, instead of running off the bees, we'd just be stirring up the bees nest. They don't have an affective government set up just yet.
I agree that imposing on them a democracy that has worked for us is somewhat ridiculous. We ought to let their culture institute leaders and run a government the way they want to. You have to agree with me atleast on the point that we took down a dictator who terroized Iraqi citizens and held a tight clamp on the government. Which was wrong, so can a liberal extremist really not give kudos for putting a giant nasty terrorist on the stand?
Anyway, as a compassionate person, I think their is still a lot of problems to be solved in the middle east and we can help by offering protection and seeking out those want to harm. What do you think?
