Casino Refuses to Pay Out $5 Million Jack-Pot

So, I was watching the news earlier today, and they were discussing this guy who was ripped off from his $5 million jackpot by a casino in the Virgin Islands. He was playing a slot machine, and to his excitement, he won! Quarters were pouring out nonstop, on its way to the $5 million sign flashing on the top part of the machine. Without missing a beat, a casino employee rushes over and unplugs the machine, informing the man that it was simply malfunctioning. To make it up to the man for his inconvenience, the casino offered him $100 and to comp his room for the night. Here’s the kicker. The guy’s a lawyer, and now he’s suing the casino for his $5 million jack-pot, or some verifiable proof that the machine was indeed malfunctioning (which has yet to be provided.)

I cannot believe this rip off. Everyone knows the buckets of money that casinos make each year, as none of the games even have odds that go either way. Your best bet is black jack, but even that is slanted towards the casino. So, why is it then, that on the rare occasion that a big slot machine actually pays out, it’s really just “malfunctioning”? I’ve never trusted the gambling industry, but this smells really fishy. It seems to me like there is some real corruption going on.
