Essentially my existence on this site is due to this Blogging for Progress Scholarship, considering that I am an aspiring undergraduate student searching for money. However, as is my nature, I seek to make this more than it is. I will, for the most part, limit my posts to public policy, current events, and issues that young people face as those are the requirements for the scholarship. But what really does that exclude anyways? Nonetheless, initially I had my username set as, well, just my name. Unfortunately it was already taken. So i spent about 2o minutes trying to think of some witty, creative username. Then I wandered off to think about what topics i would post about and remembered that I'm not really 'up to par' on current events and public policy simply because my lifestyle provides hardly any time. I hate to admit that, however I do. For a while now I have been trying to raise my level awareness on such items, however failing miserably. Thus, I find this scholarship to be a perfect way to inform myself and possibly others of current events, issues, controversies etc. My username, HelpLeena simply means...help me understand what the heck is going on in this world! I plan to seek out events and issues to post about. In my posts I will give the general gist of the situation then post not only my opionion, but questions that i have about it (that statement was more for myself than anyone else). I would like to say I'm not seeking for your answers, however you are free to give them (hint hint)! Also, feel free to give me any advice ('cause apparently there is some to give) on this blogging thing, I'm new at it. I'm simply recognizing and analyzing various issues in hope of advancing my knowledge of our world today and maybe even yours as well. Warning. I'm not entirely a perfect typer. I'm not entirely the most amazing person at grammar. And my computer is weird - when I'm typing it somehow moves the curser to a previous position and i will start typing in the middle of my passage. Therefore ignore any really weird typos or elongated spaces. Oh, and please take into consideration that I am rather young and naive so forgive any entries that may seem entirely brainless - I realize this and am trying to change that particularly through this blog. And so it begins...
