Why have sites like Facebook and Myspace, become so popular? I am a part of the madness myself. I have both a Facebook and Myspace account, but I really don't like being a part of them. In the last couple of years community sites like Facebook and Myspace have become increasingly popular. Why? What is so appealing about them? I mean we are Friends with our Friends. Why can't we call our friends, write them letters or e-mails, or just get out of our rooms and visit them. Why do we need Facebook? Does it make us feel more powerful sitting in front of a screen venting our feelings at our friends, safe from their anger when we are truthful with them. I myself don't understand the fascination with these sites. What is the importance? What is the reason for them?
