Natural Born Presidents

If you've been in a government class you know that one of the Constitutional qualifications for President is being a natural born citizen. To some, it should be changed considering the many immigrants that we have. True, they might be able to do a better job than our natural borns, but there is a sense of pride in this qualification.

In times when royalty was dominant in other countries, they would not choose someone that was not of the royal family to be ruler. Why should our government be any different? This is not to say that we are superior. This is our country of course. This is not to say that someone of a race other than "Anglo" could not be elected. I, for one, would be so excited if someone besides and "Anglo" would be elected.

Think about it, do we want to lose our sense of pride? I'm actually not very patriotic, but for some reason, this topic strikes a nerve within me.

I don't see any reason to change the qualification. I have nothing against immigrants, but I don't think we should be letting non-birthright citizens become president.

(if you can't see the fnords they won't eat you)

I think the qualification is fine as it is. A Natural Born citizen does not mean "white;" it means you were born in the US. You can be white, black, red, green, yellow...Whatever. The problem, as I see it, is the age qualification.

I don't see how having an "unnatural" born citizen as President would be devastating to our country. There are several leaders in our Country that are not natural born citizens that would be wonderful Presidents. I think the law should be changed.

The age limit is another issue. They should lower the minimum and the maximum. I've seen some 25-30 year olds that have way more intelligence and wisdom than the 60-70 year olds. I mean, look at G.W. Bush.......

W isn't AS bad as we all think he is. Partially it's due to the fact that the man is a poor speaker. Partially it's due to bad media coverage. Partially it's because of unfavorable decisions. Some of the things that he stood for I was really for, but as the time has progressed, I'm less entranced. But, between John Kerry and W, I would have voted for W because, in my opinion, Kerry was a bad candidate.
