Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is seeking the Republican nomination for the 2008 United States presidential campaign.
If elected, Romney will be the first Mormon President of the United States. His political history includes governorship of Massachussetts from 2002-2006, during which time he implemented a college scholarship program for the top 25% of Massachusetts high school students, signed legislation mandating every citizen own health insurance, and proposed "Melanie's Bill," which toughens state laws against drunk driving in the name of 13-year-old drunk driving victim Melanie Powell.
Two of his main campaign issues for the presidency include establishing affordable health care for all Americans and lowering taxes. His presidential campaign's website explains his position on other key issues.
