Is it just me, or is this BfP contest already getting overwhelming?
For
one thing, I hold myself to a certain personal standard and have a
really hard time posting anything without either knowing what I'm
talking about or at least having really thought out what it is I'm
trying to say...and certainly the spelling/grammar/syntax/diction
really slows me down--I don't think I'm a phenomenal writer, so I try
to do what I can in order to write as well as I feel I'm capable
of...and then I see people whipping out posts on a daily basis, and I
wonder how I can keep up!
On top of that, I just finished
moving and I still haven't fully set up my new apartment (I haven't
even put my clean clothes away, they're just in a giant pile on my
bed...luckily I have a big bed, I might be able to get away with just
moving them aside and sleeping on the edge!), so finding the time to
really sit down and write up a blog seems quite the daunting task...
And yes, naturally there's the commenting aspect, and I try to
keep up with that as best I can, but even that I get behind in.
Besides, some posts I really don't have anything to comment on, and
leaving one of those bland "I agree" comments seems a bit...cheap.
Especially since most of the time I don't even agree! I would mention
some examples where this is true or irrelevant for yet other reasons,
but I'm trying to stay out of trouble here.
Not to
mention the fact that I haven't had stable internet for the past two
weeks...the DSL is up and running now, though, so expect to hear a lot
more from me now that the browser actually loads. Hooray!
On
yet another note, my final "problem", if you can call it that, is how
many things I'm finding I want to write blogs about....I've currently
got at least three blog posts saved in Microsoft Word that I need to
finish and post, but I'm also very wary of being a spam-poster, since I
kind of detest those people.
All in all, it's proving to be a very rewarding, but draining, experience.
Oh,
one last thing. Recently I've been reading a lot of posts that start
out with "I joined this site 'cause I need the scholarship money" and
this is a bit disheartening. Naturally there are a lot of us that could
use those smackeroos (yeah, I said smackeroos. Deal with it!), but I
don't think monetary gain being the sole reason for joining will result
in very good posts. Like most people here, sure, I wouldn't mind
winning (although if I'm honest, I would still be interested if there
were no financial reward...I just enjoy being good at things), but it's
definitely not my primary motivator. Especially since I don't think I
stand a chance against some people here.
For those of you
that joined for other reasons--what were they? I'm curious! Personally,
I was a long-time Livejournal user, but when I wrote an entry regarding
the political candidates I was looking into and my thoughts regarding
the current political climate and got NO response, a friend referred me
to ProU, assuring me that people would definitely comment here. I very
much enjoy open and reasoned discussion, so joining and blogging here
seemed like a good idea at the time--and it's definitely a decision I
don't regret.
Fun fact: this is one of the fastest blog posts I've written for ProU!
