Ok, I dont know how many of you do your own grocery shopping or even go with your parents but I do a little bit of both. Well over the summer Ive watched as the price of milk has gone up. And with milk being $4 a gallon it makes it really hard on families to buy. In my personal experience its been kinda hard on mine because my brother can drink a gallon a day by himself, so we're quick to run out!
Well I was reading in the news on yahoo and they actually have an article on why the price of milk is so high even though there isnt a shortage of cows producing it. Here are some of the reasons given for the increase on the price of milk:
1. The growing appetite for dairy products in Asia, in places such as McDonalds and Starbucks
2. The shrinking European production
3. The drought in Austrailia and New Zeland
4. The increase in the price of feed
5. The increase in the price of fuel (uh...fuel affects the price of everything)
The reporter said that there was a 46% increase in the price of milk between November 2006 and April 2007. A 46% increase! Can you believe it? You know im sure that this is wonderful for the farmers but its horrible for families, especially the low income house holds.
