My Mom wears the pants in te family, and her and my dad share the dress.
I like that about my mom, she is really independent. She can provide for the family all by herself because my dad just decided one day to quit work. He said he was getting too old to work, and he's only 53. The funny thing is, my dad does not feel any kind of inferiorrity, like some guys would if their wives earned more than they did. Nope, not my dad, he is very content to be my mom's "secretary" and be the cook for the family.
Although, I feel like my dad should be helping my mom, I dont say it because "who am I?" I'm just the daughter. If it's okay with my mom that my dad doesnt work, then I shouldn't let it bother me. Besides, more than anything else, my dad is the one that keeps the family together. My dad is the one who lectures, he's the one suggests we have a "family meeting", and he's the one who wakes up early in the morning to go to the park, so we could play basketball as a family. My mom is there for financial support, the occasional caring-for-you-when your-sick, and even mother-daughter talks.
So, its not that bad living with the old folks. I just wish they'd give us more freedom.
