I am a huge supporter of adoption. I have a cousin who was adopted from China and I will definitely consider adopting children myself when I am older and more established. With major celebrities recently adopting (Meg Ryan, Angelina Jolie, Carista Flockhart, and Madonna) it got me thinking... why has no one adopted a domestic baby? The only celebrity I could think of that has adopted American children was Rosie O'Donell. Is it not as cool or humanitarian to adopt American children? Is it only cool if the child does not look like you, so then you get the attention? Definitely not. Adoption is done for more reasons than that and I think that children are in need everywhere and thinking of adoption as just being a foreign thing is wrong. Maybe it is just an American thing? I don't hear about too many European, Asian, or African people adopting American children. It is pretty obvious why not in some cases (over-population or lack of money and resources), but it does make a point. If celebrities have enough power to trend the adoption cycle then hopefully one will have enough courage and sense to adopt an American child.
American Babies... Undesirable?
