Effective government is an essential component of a healthy, just society. Government provides infrastructure and services that cannot be provided by private enterprise alone. Government provides a judicial system that allows our society to function in a civil, equitable, and sustainable manner. Government provides coordinated planning and incentives that help businesses adjust to changing circumstances. Government provides the means of coordinating actions with other countries.
Conservative ideology posits that smaller government is the solution. What we really need is efficient and effective government. To make our government effective we need to acknowledge the importance of government through strong, progressive leadership.
