I have noticed that a lot of ProgressiveU's debates revolve around religion. I have even posted a few of religious entries myself, but i try not to get carried away. I'm the kind of person who will openly ask questions and will debate the topic and i have learned that religion and politics are something that you need to keep to yourself. So many people end up with hurt feelings, or just get pissed off. Neither of these things is my intention with this blog.
I was reading an online version of the news paper today and noticed an article about people and their pets. WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD YOU DATE A DOG PERSON OR A CAT PERSON. Next to the article was a poll asking what people believed about animals and souls.
I don't quite know where i'm at in my religion right now. I definitely believe that there is a God, a creator. After that regarding what heaven is like, what death is like your guess is probably as good as mine. I have read quite a bit about how heaven is a system of levels. You start your life as someone or something and hopefully you learn a lesson and gain a level in heaven closer to God. Your ultimate goal is to be as close to God as you can. This relates to spirit guides, past lives, ghosts, the stuff along those lines. I have dabbled in the belief, but i like to control my life so I didn't really feel like this was right for me.
If all that was true, we would be reincarnated into animals, which must have souls. There are many other religions that believe in reincarnation, so why can't an animal have a soul? Even if you only saw the animal in the after life, not even the soul or person (don't know what i'm getting at here) I'm just thinking of my dog dieing when i was little. She was the best dog in the world, let me hold on to her tail when we went swimming. I loved her and i can't picture anything i loved that much not being with me when i die. Reincarnation or not.
What do you think? Do animals go to heaven? Do they have souls? I went to church quite a bit when i was younger, but i'm sorry to say i'm no pro with the Bible. Does the Bible state anything about animals. (No offense, but i think a lot of people make the bible say what they want it to say. Don't eat cake could equal don't eat cake or don't eat things that are bad for you.)
