so i've noticed people have lately taken a "liking" (for lack of better word) to using stereotypes.....i myself have been a victim of stereotypes in the past....and still am sometimes....
My dad and some of his co-workers were out to lunch one day and saw some of the construction workers around town doing their job ya know......most of them were Hispanics ( i refuse to say Mexicans because that is derrogatory, not all come from mexico!) So, the guys with my dad got on the subject of border control and one of them made the comment of "yeah for every one of them we see there's probably ten that we don't see because you know they always bring a ton of their family members with them, ya know?" my dad got so mad at the guy. he told him off and said that maybe it was just that one person here for work and how do we know whether he brought anyone with him at all. who are we to be judging them, when we're too lazy or whatever to do the job that him and the guy like that hispanic are doing? that shut the guys up right there.....and my dad has a point.
Who are we to judge someone just because of the country they come from. People do the same things to Oriental immigrants and European ones too. everyone who looks like they're from the oriental, people automatically assume they are from Japan or China, but there are more countries over there that have people that look like that (taiwan, singapore, Java, the philipines, just to name a few).....some people are still bitter from the wars we've gone through and take it out on the younger generations even though they weren't even anywhere near to being born during those times.
as for me? when i was at my second school, one of my younger "friends" who is very opinionated, discovered that i am completely, 100% German. so he said to me, completely serious "So you're like a NeoNazi then, right?" i got very upset because i am most certainly NOT a NeoNazi at all. i hate Hitler for what he did to the Jews and several other groups ( on a smaller scale). Mind you, younger Germans, such as me, are somewhat fascinated with the Holocaust, simply because it is part of our past, regardless of whether we are American-Germans (born in the USA) or native Germans who moved here from Germany. Still to this day, that "friend" refers to me as the NeoNazi, regardless of how many times i tell him that i am in no way any type of Nazi....granted i have a kitten named Hitler, but that's because the little guy has a splotch of black right under his nose that makes him look like Hitler......the kitten's not evil or anything, he just has the mustache.....
moral of this here blog? DON'T JUDGE PEOPLE BASED ON WHERE THEY ARE FROM OR WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE!
oh and i read someone's blog about a sudden "upswing" of so-called "gothic" people at his small town school. to that person: so what? they want to be different, it suits their attitude, or they just like the color black (like i do). it's a personal freedom they are entitled to. if they aren't causing any problems except that they are being different from everyone else at your school, so what? changes happen, get over it. i just graduated from a small town high school, so i know what you're talking about with everyone being tight knit.....but every school has their "outcast" group, not matter how tight knit...... so again, don't judge, just let them be who they want to be......even if it is "against" the rest of the school.........
