Virtual Volunteer Opportunities

Tagged:  •

When I volunteer, I always ask another person to come with me.  Usually they do not have the time or do not want to go out any where.  I cannot blame them-I often do not feel like driving anywhere or even being around people. Lately, with school and work, I have not been able to find any free time.  I felt guilty about not helping out.  And then just last week, I found a "home-bodys" dream to volunteering.  Give your hours on the Internet!

It seems almost too good to be true-but there are many opporunitities out there.  The majority of the virtual sites are nation wide and will not have a local chapter.  They may ask for experience or it may take just clicking on websites.  Some of this virtual volunteering takes actual web page knowledge, but there are still many chances to help out and stay at home.

The website that I have found to be the best timesaver and most helpful is called VolunteerMatch.org.  They will actually take your information (age, interests, skills) and match it with volunteer opporunities in your area.  They send you an email when they find matches and !presto! you have an opportunity.  I have already found one virtual opportunity that fits my schedule!!
