I found this looking for a way to get my children out of DHS custody. I live in oklahoma and for 5 yrs I was in a very abusive relationship when I got out just this past October, my daughter told me my recent ex had touched her for years. So I call a detective and he sets up an interview with consolers to talk to my daughter to see what happened. Next thing I know I'm being told my children are being taken from me for failure to protect and I'm like WHAT??? I came in and told my story and my kids get taken and the guy that did it is living in a house with 2 little kids now and not being arrested. I'm just looking for help for my kids, for me to get my kids back safe with me. I removed my self from that relationship had VPO's against him supervised visits with my son up til my daughter said that. So I have a show cause hearing. I just want to know the best way to get my children home with me

I wish I could do something to help but the laws and acronyms are diffrent from state to state. What does DHS and VPO mean?
My only suggestion is find a lawyer that does pro bono.... go to a women's protective shelter type place and see if they can help you...they are use to working this sort of thing.
