Who Voted? I Voted!!

sawaboof's picture

I voted at around 8:45 this morning. I waited in line about 15 minutes because, in Milwaukee, polling places are EVERYWHERE, specifically to avoid huge lines.

Smart Milwaukee. Very smart. :-)

Anyway... I took pictures...

Before voting

Let's get a close-up of that awesome shirt I'm wearing...

At the polls...
I was number 222

My ballot, it was official.

My ballot, it was for Milwaukee

My vote, it was for Obama

Oops! That was supposed to be a secret!

I got a sticker!!

And I am wearing it!

I wish I had taken pictures of:

  • The other people/things I voted for/on
  • Me putting my ballot into the machine
  • People inside the polling place

Oh well. C'est la vie, right? The important thing is, I voted! And you should too if you haven't already!

Oh man, I should have cleaned my living room before taking pictures! And I need a hair cut.

I woke up at six, giddy with excitement and nerves. We packed a lunch and snacks and water bottles, ready for the wait, then we walked to our polling place. We were done voting in under fiftenn minutes. I just ate my bag lunch in my living room. Oh well. I guess it's a good thing there was no line, but I was really hoping for a good historic election day story.

    Anyway, yay for voting!

I do-ish! Kaia will be able to look back in 20 years and tell everyone that he went to the polls for the very first time during this election. And I get to tell everyone he thought boating would have been a lot more fun and that he voted for "everybody in the whole world...even strangers" and then celebrated when Obama won. It's going to be so much fun to remind him of his first voting experience when he turns 18 and gets his very own ballot hehe. :D

I have to wait for hubby to get home to go vote. I'm almost positive I'm going to erupt into flames by then. And if I don't then, I will waiting for the results.

I've checked about 80 times to make sure my polling place hasn't changed and am leaving the house as soon as he pulls up in the parking lot.

In 2004, I almost didn't get to vote. I was working nights and stayed up half the day. I passed out at some point and hubby didn't manage to get me to wake up until half an hour before the polls closed. I tossed clothes on, threw my feet into some slippers and made a mad dash for it. I got to my polling place, and it wasn't my polling place. We had like 6 minutes to make it to the other place.... talk about flying like bats out of hell. I dashed in the door with 2 minutes to spare. My hair wasn't brushed and I'm pretty sure I had drool... but I voted, by God!

    No repeats this year!

I had to wait around thirty mins. The line quickly shrunk becuase of the three minute rule we have. But it was amazing, the voting line was stretched across the building all the way to the sidewalk.
It was my first time to vote, and i was very excited about it.

    I like your shirt.

    What's a 3 minute rule?

The three minute rule is a rule in louisiana that requires each voter to take only three minutes in the voting booth.

Wow. That would take a lot more volunteers if you had to have somebody monitor the time of every voter.

I voted early. I didn't want to have to deal with the headache of driving an hour to get to my polling place from where I work, only to wait in lines forever. Also, I had to take care of my sisters. Voting early so rocks.

Voting early was only at the municipal buildings here. I voted the day of because it was easier for me to walk down the street to my polling place than drive across the city. :-D I also hear the lines here were shorter if you waited. ;-)

I voted early last election though. And I'm glad. Phoenix had insane wait times both this Presidential election and last.

I voted early. I stood in line for two hours but it was worth it. I was just disappointed to find out that they had run out of stickers!

    Oh that's sad!

I'm glad I got a sticker because it was proof (I could wear to class) that I voted and got me 5 extra credit points in my nutrition class :-) Now it's stuck on my computer. :-D

I voted on Tuesday. There was no line because I went when everyone was either at school or at work. I actually researched every single candidate/issue so I felt confident casting my vote.

Aside from the presidential candidates, none of the people on my ballot were running against anyone. It made the decisions really easy. And only 2 issues made it easy to research those.

It's almost like it was too easy.

    Amendment 48 FAILED! Woot!

We had a fricken' huge ballot. There was a full page for the Presidential nominees (since in Colorado, you only need like $500 and 1000 signatures to get your name on the ballot). We also had like 10 ballot measures to vote on, plus we had a senate and house representative to vote in. Not to mention all the local things to vote for... it was a long ballot.

This was also my first time voting! I live in an itty bitty town, so i literally walked right in. No wait time to get to the polls, and it was noon.

    Love the picture blog, sawaboof!

I envy you!! I will not be 18 until 30 days AFTER the election, but I am a registered (green party) voter, so just try to keep me away from the polls in 2 years!
