Reading Blogs

Is it just me, or does it seem like no one is reading other people's blogs. Not only does there seem to be a lack of reading, but there doesn't seem to be much commenting going on either. Come on people this is a competition, where you ae encouraged to read what other peoples views and ideas are, and then comment about how you feel. When you read someone else's blogs you help them, and when you comment you help yourself.

Take a deep breath. It'll all add up in due time. The contest is L-O-N-G! At the start of the contest, there are thousands of people on the site, and all of them are blogging with guns blazing. It's hard to keep up with everything that's posted. Many blogs get lost in the shuffle.

So here are some tips for you and for EVERYONE that will get your blog read:
1.) Look around the site and see what is being overdone. Abortion, religion, Obama's skin color, etc are written time and again. Right now, the VP debate and the election are overdone topics. After you assess what people ARE writing about, pick something they are NOT addressing.

2.) Make sure that unique topic you are addressing is one you care about. Your voice will be much stronger if you have something invested in it.

3.) EDIT YOUR BLOGS! Seriously. People DO care about grammar, punctuation, syntax, style, etc. The half hour extra effort will pay off in spades once you've built a reputation for good writing.

Those are just a few to start. I guess the biggest tip is KEEP AT IT! Don't let up. Tons of competitors drop out within a few weeks.

Absolutely! EW beat me to this and I just want to expound on what she said.

Rate the blogs you see so the good ones can stand out. If your rate AND comment people are bound to return the favor, increasing both parties chances at winning and/or learning. The more rating the better the ‘Highest Rated’ list will be. If you are there more people will see your blogs…this is good.

Also, People nominate bloggers that are original, creative, and well written. So, if you write what you believe and love AND its different can increase your points/reads. The nominations put you up for the front page, front page means more acknowledgment.

You do bring up a good point and problem of the beginning of the contest. Strive to set the example, at best this will help you win at worst we all will have learned a lot.

Love is like a box of chocolates; if you chose wisely you won’t be disappointed and have to spit it out. ~T

Getting reads can take a long time. Just think about it this way: your blog survives for longer than the day you post it, right? There might not be very many interested readers on at the moment you post, but your blog could later be found by anyone who subscribes to you or makes you a buddy, somebody you randomly happens across it during some exploration of the site, or it could show up in the "Have You Seen This Yet?" section. Give it some time.

And remember, some blogs just don't look interesting for people to click on. That's when you only get a handful of reads ever.

Read and comment on other blogs. It helps people know who you are and that you care about them, so they can care about what you have to say. Makes sense?

Developing relationships with your fellow bloggers helps a lot. People will see your name and think "I wonder what he/she has to say about THIS topic?" It also just gets your name out there, increasing the odds that someone will click on it and read your blog.

That's one of the reason's I'm buddies with ediblewoman! Whenever she blogs, I know about it.

That's another tactic: add people as buddies whom you respect/or from whom you think you can learn a thing or two from blogging. Actually get to know people (once again, establishing a relationship) and you'll find that they read your blogs as often as you read theirs.

well, this is something that i have noticed about progressiveU users. they like personal experiences added to the blogs. so i would try to make a point by recounting an experience.

i have also noticed that a blogger will receive more reads if the issue is not overdone, yet contresversial.
