One great way to improve your power of persuasion and master the art of
reframing the debate is to join a debate team. It's great to practice
those skills online or by voicing your opinion in our podcasts, but you also
need to be able to think on your feet.
Many colleges have a debate team. If yours doesn't, consider starting
one. Contact a national organization like the National
Debate Tournament for ideas, and then go to your student activities
department to find out how to set up an new organization on
campus.
If you're in high school and your school doesn't have a debate club, contact Junior
State of America to find out how you can set up a chapter at your
school. JSA also offers annual summer programs that teach leadership skills and provide
an opportunity to study state and national government.
