New to this..
I have chosen to start writing about politics.. Its not a topic I normally enjoy writing about at all. I find so much conflict in the topic.. short of talking about Religion I find it to be one of the most difficult things to talk about in a friendly manor. During any conversation those are the two topics I avoid most"Religion and Politics". Why?
Well they are mostly based on opinions I believe. No one can really prove either works or doesn't work because regardless of the out come some percentage is going to say it does or it doesn't. Even if that percentage is low its always followed by the hope factor. YOU DON'T KNOW ..IT COULD CHANGE.. is always what people like to follow statements about either topic when they feel the point isn't being made correctly. Maybe its just me and maybe I just .. don't like to argue..or ...debate as its called....but this will be my space for said topics!

A statement of political philosophy or principle
What do you believe? If you were benevolent dictator, how would you govern America?
Most of the people I talk to about politics probably should refrain from voting because they have no knowledge of history, the details of policies, our budget situation or of the people running for office. They are failing in their duties to be informed citizens. The result is that we get leaders who essentially won the equivalent of a high school popularity contest.
People will always be people.
People will always be people.. They will always go with what group, town, or state they hear from... TV has had a bad bad bad..effect on people.. news papers.. also... kind of bad..but who reads? Everyone is entitled to vote.. because everyone has opinions... even if they are mis directed.. they are opinions.. the problem I have with it MOSTLY.. is that ...not enough people think.. not enough people HEAR SOMETHING...or Read something...and then say... "is that true?"
It is what it is...
It should be harder to vote
I share your opinion about the general mindless nature of many people. There are all but non-sentinent. I cringe when I see a news broadcast of "man on the street" interviews. So many of them can't even answer simple questions like "who is the Vice- President?"
Why should my generally well-informed vote be off-set and negated by these morons? How can that possibly lead to good governance?
The Founding Father's designed a better system. They restricted suffrage to property owners (aka taxpayers). Their system certainly had some problems like not allowing women to vote, But it was a fairly reasonable assumption that people who managed to accumulate property and pay taxes on it had a better grip on what was going on in the world around them and were better capable of choosing decent people to govern them then the moronic masses.
What we have now is little better than a popularity contest. It is really sad.
