If I had to reveal the deepest fear I had for quite a long time, it would be of failure.

I am afraid of the hardest fall.

The one that I will not be able to pick myself up from.

Of course, if you know even a little about me...

What more can I do to screw up my plans?

Where is the motivation?

I observe our young generation as much as it is exposed to me. My younger brother is a part of this growing youth, and I've seen him develop through the gentle and painful process of life. You can only imagine the expectations I have for him, and how much hope I store in his capacity for success.  Read More »

New restrictions on young drivers, but will it make a difference?

I found another newspaper article today that caught my attention. It is about the new piece of Ontario Legislation that will change put new restrictions for drivers under 21 (See the Toronto star article at http://www.wheels.ca/reviews/article/471369). Advertising in the Media - Its Straight Up MIND CONTROL!

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

There's nothing more frustrating than having to sit through another advertising ploy while watching a channel entitled Music Television. MTV will never be a channel I depend on to find out about excellent music out there. They try to trick us young people again and again by making this wierd anti-advertising advertising, if that makes sense.  Read More »

Previous entry: a first glimpse: zonke

13 May 2008

South Africa is much the same and different as many African countries that I have visited. Same in the sense of the smell of burning oil and gasoline, shipping containers as buildings, the red dirt, the friendly people, passenger vans as taxis, crazy driving, dogs for security, chickens and goats roaming everywhere, and the seemingly common practice of taking things as they come. The differences and nuances come in the country's history - white minority oppressive rule. White people are not unheard of in this area of Africa and South Africa specifically - uncommon, but not unseen. You get a sense that you are always being watched, but in a different way than what may be experienced in other African countries without such a history. It is more of a, "why are you here" look instead of the, "oh! You are white." The history of white oppression and the current issue of white organizations taking away from the communities makes the dynamic similar in skepticism, but different in why.  Read More »
