I have always interpreted my empowerment to be able to act and live on the equal playing field of men. Yes as a woman, I have qualities much better than a man, and yet I find it empowering I have entitled myself to the same liberating activities of men. Equality is about choice.
Temporary: Lasting a short time. Would anyone argue that 40 years is not a short time? Myabe if it is relative to the life of the planet, but in terms of my lifetime, 40 years is not a short time. Affirmative Action, a supposedly temporary solution to a problem, has been around twice as long as I have and shows no signs of going away anytime soon. Something needs to be done.
I wanted to use this blog to be progressive. What I thought was progressive was broadening my horizons by sharing my opinions and reading the opinions of others on current political issues: the presidential race, environmental issues, current news stories. But now I'm sitting here realizing that within my own life, I have made a progressive observation.
Are the fathers supposed to teach their sons to make their girlfriends submissive and mistreat them by telling them that, "It's different" Well I think not, I have being involved in a relationship where he wears the pants and it sucks for me. I have being in one for four years and everyday he takes a piece of me. Why?
Everytime a girl calls another a Bitch. Or says how ugly or fat another girl, she is lowering another girl. When girls get mad at each other when a guy cheats, instead of the guy, they are holding each other back.
