I was sitting in a Kagoshima, Japan, Starbucks yesterday enjoying my tall green tea frappuccino. Suddenly, a Japanese woman at the table next to me started talking to me in English (her English was quite good, by the way). This is not an unusual occurrence, as I’m often approached by Japanese people wanting to practice their English on a foreigner.
My self-esteem has been running a little low lately, my feelings getting confused again thanks to, of all things, an anime in which I identified with the main character a little more than I wanted to. All of this inner turmoil will take time to get rid of and sort out.
It's moving on a little more quickly, however, thanks to the wonderful timing of God.
"If I died...would you come to my funeral?" A question one of my best friends asked me today. It struck a chord within me, because I've found myself wanting to ask people that same question so many times before. She is hurting, and as a result, I am hurting, because I know exactly how she feels, and there is nothing I can do to help her overcome those feelings...

There was once a time when you actually had friends that were happy for you. Well that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I have a friend that is never happy for me. She and I talked about how much I wanted to improve my math grade. I improved my grade and she knew how much that meant to me. She didn't congratulate me and she barely responded when I told her.
