Sounds like Chinese citizens are going to do some boycotting and protesting of their own. After the protests in Paris supporting Tibet and their fight for human rights, many Chinese consumers have decided to not shop at a highly popular retail store known as Carrefour.

Butchers and Monsters
Butchers and Monsters
Usually I would flip through the MacLean’s magazine scanning the pages before going to bed, but the April 7th 2008 issue was different. Most people who read MacLean’s would remember this issue as the greatest issue or the worst. To me, this cover story was the perfect example of Western ignorance and how that is leading us to another crusade.

The dark side of the Dalai Lama?
Last night, I watched an interesting educational program about the Dalai Lama here in China. It was on the English-speaking station, so I just watched it without being scrutinizing. In my defense, I had a headache and had taken some medicine, so I was kind of mellow just watching some good old Chinese TV.
Controversy in the Beijing Olympics
Ever since the end of the 2004 Olympics in Greece, I got to see a preview of the 2008 Olympics in China. I have been anticipating the date August 8, 2008 (08/08/08). Now that the year has finally come, it's hard to believe that it is just a few months away.

Poem for Tibet
I am simply a man like any other. As the sun rises every day over the Himalayan Mountains of Tibet that I have come to call home, I cook a breakfast of eggs over a fire of sweet-smelling cedar logs. Every evening, I pull down the door of my shop and count the day’s earnings that always seem to be just enough. There is much to be grateful for.

Does China deserve the Olympics?
I've heard so many viewpoints of the upcoming Olympics that my head is liable to explode. I can't think of another time in my recent memory that I've had the pleasure to experience such a wide range of views on the topic. It's quite refreshing. I'm referring to the particular talk of whether China deserves to hold the Olympics.
China, Tibet, Olympics, and Honoring Humanity
2008 is special for two reasons:
1) The Summer Olympics will be held in August in Beijing.
2) It's the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
And there seems to be an issue because:
Dalai Lama May Resign
The current Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, says he may step down as the leader of Tibet if the protesters continue their violence. He had advised his people to be non-violent against the ethnic (Han) Chinese and that the Chinese should not treat the Tibetans like second-class citizens. Both Tibetans and Chinese have been killed by the violence.
